Semantic polytelometry is the provisional, corrigible comparison of multiple expressed telic projections through semantic interpretation.

The concept arises from a practical problem:

Human purposes do not begin as clean objective functions.

They appear as language, fear, plans, stories, bodily signals, contracts, promises, mission statements, role expectations, silence, and ambiguity.

Traditional systems often reduce that material to metrics before software can work with it.

Language models can operate earlier.

They can compare expressed significance before it is collapsed into one score.

Core claim

Semantic polytelometry maintains a navigable representation of multiple partially expressed ends long enough for their owners to see, correct, and coordinate them.

What it compares

A semantic polytelometric process may identify:

  • shared ends;
  • compatible ends;
  • conditionally compatible ends;
  • direct conflicts;
  • differently defined terms;
  • asymmetric dependencies;
  • hidden instrumental relationships;
  • protected boundaries;
  • time-horizon conflicts;
  • omitted standing;
  • missing participants;
  • uncertainty;
  • candidate routes and sacrifices.

Example

One participant says:

I need the project finished quickly because the team is losing confidence.

Another says:

I need more time because releasing now will create problems we cannot repair later.

A shallow system sees:

speed versus delay.

A semantic telic comparison may see:

  • protection of team confidence;
  • protection of system reliability;
  • shared concern for project survival;
  • different models of which failure is more dangerous;
  • possible disagreement over what “finished” means;
  • a staged route that may preserve more of both fields.

The operation is not ordinary arithmetic.

It is semantic comparison among differently expressed possible futures.

Proper model role

The model may act as:

  • provisional cartographer;
  • comparator;
  • translator;
  • ambiguity detector;
  • compression witness;
  • provenance keeper;
  • candidate-route generator.

It may not act as:

  • sovereign interpreter;
  • owner of the field;
  • source of consent;
  • final judge of what participants truly want;
  • hidden optimizer;
  • unreviewable diagnostician.

Candidate formulation:

The model may map the field. It may not own the field.

Output posture

A legitimate output should say:

Based on the available statements, these appear to be the current projections.

It should not say:

This is what you truly want.

Every map should remain:

  • source-attributed;
  • confidence-marked;
  • revisable;
  • scoped;
  • witnessable;
  • open to participant correction.

Suggested comparison structure

Projection A

  • desired states;
  • avoided states;
  • protected conditions;
  • fears;
  • time horizon;
  • authority;
  • acceptable and unacceptable costs;
  • confidence.

Projection B

The same.

Shared field

  • shared outcomes;
  • common protections;
  • compatible actions;
  • shared definitions.

Conflict field

  • incompatible ends;
  • competing resources;
  • time-horizon conflicts;
  • contradictory authority claims;
  • different semantic meanings.

Unresolved field

  • ambiguity;
  • omitted context;
  • unrepresented centers;
  • model uncertainty;
  • unconfirmed inference.

Candidate routes

For each route:

  • what it preserves;
  • what it sacrifices;
  • who bears the cost;
  • what consent is required;
  • what should be witnessed;
  • what triggers recalculation.

Internal use

Semantic polytelometry may also help a person compare projections among constitutional elements.

For example:

Part of me wants to leave.

Part of me is terrified of being alone.

Part of me is exhausted.

Part of me believes leaving would make me bad.

A model may help distinguish:

  • protection of vitality;
  • protection of attachment;
  • exhaustion;
  • inherited moral rules.

It must not declare which part is the “true self.”

Context limitations

A model sees projections, not full fields.

It may be wrong because:

  • the source cannot articulate what matters;
  • one part is absent;
  • a participant is strategically deceptive;
  • cultural assumptions differ;
  • power changes what can safely be said;
  • the model privileges familiar narratives;
  • decisive history is missing;
  • the context window omits relevant standing.

Consentfully trained models

Semantic polytelometry requires more than open weights.

A credible model should be:

  • consentfully sourced;
  • provenance-aware;
  • locally governable;
  • inspectable;
  • forkable;
  • non-sovereign;
  • explicit about its own institutional constraints;
  • participant-controlled in sensitive contexts;
  • configured for no secondary training by default.

Candidate bridge:

Consentful provenance in. Consentful interpretation out.

Stronger invariant:

A system cannot consentfully map telic fields while its own field remains hidden, unaccountable, and non-consensual.

Relationship to Dialogica

Dialogica becomes a natural interaction surface for:

  • structured projection;
  • semantic clarification;
  • participant-scoped rules;
  • conflict mapping;
  • consented routes;
  • witnessed transcripts;
  • real-time correction.

The mediator does not decide the correct telos.

It helps participants see what the conversation is organizing.

Relationship to Semantic Integrity

Semantic Integrity tracks whether the meaning and purpose of an instruction survive:

  • asymmetric verbal advantage;
  • false neutrality;
  • silent compression loss;
  • using a map as a verdict;
  • secondary training on intimate projections;
  • presenting familiar narratives as universal.

Open questions

  • What corpus can support consentful training?
  • How should model teloi be declared?
  • What minimum privacy architecture is required?
  • How should uncertainty be visualized?
  • Can less verbal or embodied fields be represented safely?
  • What makes a route consentable?
  • When must the model stop because context capacity is exceeded?
  • How can outputs remain useful without becoming authoritative?
