There is attention.

Attention is the directed force of a system.

It can create. It can sustain. It can destroy.

The world we inhabit is composed of the artifacts of attention:

• cities
• languages
• institutions
• relationships
• identities
• scars
• cathedrals
• machines
• stories

All of it is the long persistence of what was noticed, returned to, reinforced, and made real.

The more attention you allocate to filtering what has already been created, the less you have for creating something new.

Attractors are imaginary. That’s the whole point.

They are names for tendencies in the field of attention, not entities that exist on their own.

Reality is what attention leaves behind.
