Attention Mechanics (Axioms)

  1. There is Attention.
  1. Attention is the directed force of a system.
  1. Attention can create, sustain, or destroy depending on allocation.
  1. Pointing leaves an Artifact (a discrete trace).
  1. Artifacts fade without continued attention.
  1. Continued attention fossilizes artifacts into structure.
  1. The world is the accumulated residue of sustained attention.
  1. Attention increases coupling between a system and what it attends.
  1. Attention is finite.
  1. Allocation to filtering the created reduces capacity for creating the new.
  1. Attractors are imaginary names for tendencies in attention.
  1. Reality is what attention leaves behind.
  1. Appreciation is the art of viewing reality while directing attention toward chosen attractors, thereby bending experience.
