Stories That Feed on Energy
A ULiUA Essay on Recognition, Release, and Escape
---
Preface: Why This Matters
ULiUA—Unconditional Love Includes Unconditional Acceptance—is not a moral slogan. It is a stability principle.
This essay explores a quiet but powerful truth:
Some stories do not merely describe reality. They consume the energy they generate—and must therefore generate more to survive.
Understanding this changes how we relate to anger, fear, outrage, identity, conflict, and even suffering itself.
What follows is both an explanation and a practical tutorial.
---
1. Energy Comes First
Before story, before meaning, before judgment—there is energy.
A loud sound. A strange look. An unexpected message.
Your nervous system releases arousal before it knows why.
This is not a flaw. It is ancient.
Energy is released to answer a simple question:
Does this matter?
At this stage, there is no anger, fear, or offense. Just charge.
---
2. Stories Aim Energy
Energy without direction is uncomfortable. So the mind does what it does best:
It tells a story.
Examples:
- “That was disrespectful.”
- “They’re threatening me.”
- “This is unjust.”
- “I’m being excluded.”
Each of these stories does two things at once:
- Explains the sensation
- Selects a directive (anger, fear, shame, righteousness)
The story does not create the energy—but it aims it.
---
3. Meaning Multiplies Energy
Here is the crucial turn.
When a story implies stakes—danger, violation, moral urgency—the system releases more energy to fund action.
So the loop becomes:
- Event → energy
- Story → direction
- Stakes → additional energy
Meaning is an energy amplifier.
---
4. When Stories Feed on What They Create
Some stories require the very energy they produce in order to remain plausible.
Anger-stories need insults. Fear-stories need threats. Outrage-stories need villains.
If such a story ever stopped finding triggers, it would collapse.
So it cannot.
A story that feeds on its own energy must keep producing more of it.
This is not psychology. It is dynamics.
---
5. Why This Is Fractal
The same loop appears at every scale:
- Inside a single thought
- In relationships
- In families and workplaces
- In media ecosystems
- In nations and religions
Each layer:
- Lowers its activation threshold
- Sharpens its pattern-recognition
- Finds “evidence” faster
This is how spirals form.
---
6. The Spiral (Named Clearly)
A spiral has five recognizable properties:
- Increasing certainty
- Decreasing curiosity
- Faster activation
- Rising energy cost
- Moral urgency ("something must be done")
If you feel all five—you are not failing.
You are inside a self-feeding story.
---
7. Why Facts Rarely Help
Facts challenge content.
Spirals are about fuel.
Correcting the story without changing the energy source feels like starvation to the system.
That is why:
- People double down
- Anger escalates
- Calm advice backfires
You are not arguing with beliefs. You are interrupting metabolism.
---
8. Acceptance as an Exit Ramp
This is where ULiUA enters—not as virtue, but as engineering.
Acceptance (on the path toward unconditional love) does one precise thing:
It removes the justification for secondary energy release.
Acceptance says:
- “This is happening.”
- “I don’t need this to be different right now.”
- “Energy can pass without being weaponized.”
No villain. No emergency. No amplification.
The loop starves—and relaxes.
---
9. Tutorial: Recognizing the Spiral in Real Time
Step 1: Locate the Energy
Ask:
“What do I feel in my body right now?”
Heat? Tightness? Pressure? Buzzing?
Stay with sensation before story.
---
Step 2: Name the Story Gently
Not to fight it. Just to see it.
“The story says this is disrespect.” “The story says this is dangerous.”
Use the story says.
That phrasing creates space.
---
Step 3: Check for Energy Multiplication
Ask one diagnostic question:
“Is this meaning adding fuel?”
If yes, you’ve found the loop.
---
Step 4: Withdraw Stakes (Not Care)
Say internally:
“This can matter without being urgent.” “I don’t need extra energy right now.”
This is not suppression. It is refusing escalation.
---
Step 5: Let Energy Discharge
Energy wants to move.
Breathe. Stretch. Shake. Pause. Cry. Walk.
Let it pass without needing a reason.
---
10. What Escaping the Spiral Feels Like
Not numb. Not passive.
It feels like:
- More choice
- Slower time
- Softer boundaries
- Increased clarity
- Unexpected compassion (including for yourself)
You are still alive. You are just no longer being harvested.
---
11. The Larger Claim
Most dominant cultural narratives are not optimized for truth or well-being.
They are optimized for continuity through energy extraction.
ULiUA proposes a different invariant:
Stories should metabolize energy safely—or let it go.
Anything else eventually burns its host.
---
Closing
Unconditional Love Includes Unconditional Acceptance not because love is naive—
—but because only acceptance breaks self-feeding loops.
This is not the end of stories.
It is the end of stories that require suffering to survive.
Say it. Share it.
