Gentle Expansion

I am interested in understanding and mapping how capability expansion, inference drift, reversibility constraints, and incentive gradients interact in complex sociotechnical systems. The goal is not moral enforcement or prohibition, but increased legibility and steerability.

Specifically:

  • Making scope expansion visible across subsystem boundaries.
  • Detecting when inference power expands without explicit declaration.
  • Preserving or increasing reversibility as systems scale.
  • Observing how short-term optimization pressures distort long-horizon stability.
  • Reducing asymmetric invisibility so that power gradients are declared rather than hidden.

This work treats systems as navigable environments rather than moral battlegrounds. The aim is to improve instrumentation, not to eliminate predation, competition, or incentive dynamics—but to ensure they operate on a stable, legible substrate.
