v0 Concept + Electron App Implementation
This document describes the best first build:
Checkpointing a moment of living context
A checkpoint is not a file.
It is a return path back into a coherent mind-state.

1. The Core Idea (General Audience)
While chatting with an AI, sometimes a moment becomes important:
- an insight lands
- coherence crystallizes
- a decision forms
- a deep attractor appears
You want to save this point of view, right now.
But saving is not about storing everything.
Saving is about making this moment re-enterable.

2. Saving = Compression + Returnability
When you checkpoint, the system pays a cost to compute:
A. A Compression Ladder
A path from the full context down into smaller stable anchors:
NOW → Local Basin → Known Attractor → Cross-domain Invariant → Primitive Anchor
B. New Attractor Candidates (if warranted)
If a new shared basin would reduce future complexity, it is proposed.
C. Residual Seed
Whatever cannot compress yet is stored as the minimal remainder.
D. A Checkpoint Label (Tight Compression with Peer Resistance)
The checkpoint’s label is not a verbose title.
It is the tightest compression of the moment that still has peers (nearby alternatives) such that further compression fails to unify.
In other words:
- compress until you reach the smallest unit that remains meaningfully distinct
- verify there exist sibling/peer compressions where unification fails (irreducible differences)
- use that boundary as the label
This makes the label a stable identity:
as compressed as possible, but not past the point where it becomes ambiguous.
So a checkpoint is:
The smallest seed + the shortest return path + a stable label at the peer-resistance boundary.

3. Attractors and Invariants Emerge Naturally
You do not need to pre-build an ontology.
By checkpointing moments, attractors appear as a side effect:
- recurring themes
- stable patterns
- reusable invariants
Meaning evolves by compression.

4. Why This Is the Right v0
Checkpointing is the best first feature because:
- it is one button
- immediate payoff
- minimal engineering
- no artifact bureaucracy
- everything is replayable later
It creates the substrate for:
- attractor registries
- dissent history
- unification operations
- personalized lenses
But none of that is required at v0.

5. Electron UI/UX (Frontend v0)
Main Chat UI
Add one primary action:
✅ “Checkpoint this moment”
- button or hotkey
- appears near the message composer
Optional:
- Depth selector (Shallow / Medium / Deep)
= how wide the AI casts its compression net

Checkpoint Card Output
After click, the app pins a card into a sidebar or thread:
Title
Auto-suggested or user-provided.
Return Path (Compression Ladder)
Bulleted anchors:
- Key attractors present
- Glyphs / invariants touched
- Cross-domain compression points
Residual Seed
The irreducible remainder.
Candidate New Attractors (optional)
Only if compression gain is positive.
Actions
- Re-enter
- Rename
- Expand depth later

6. Backend Interaction (Minimal API Loop)
The backend only needs one operation:
POST /checkpoint
Input
- recent conversation window
- user depth preference
- optional invariant frame (e.g. QuantumInvariants lens)
Output
- checkpoint title
- compression ladder
- residual seed
- candidate attractors (optional)
Store this output permanently.

7. Re-entering a Checkpoint (v0)
Click “Re-enter” and the app injects:
- the compression ladder
- the residual seed
back into the assistant context.
This recreates the basin without storing everything.
Teleportation via invariants.

8. Implementation Order
- Add Checkpoint button
- Backend generates return path + residual
- Save Checkpoint Cards locally
- Add Re-enter action
- Later: deepen compression, unify attractors, preserve dissent

Checkpointing is the smallest inhabitable feature.
It turns living conversation into navigable coherence.
Not files.
